2018 Country Championships – Shepparton

The Kilmore Swimming Clubs first major event for 2018 was the Victorian Country Championships. Held in Shepparton on from 26-28 Jan, the meet showcases the best swimmers from across country Victoria. With just under 700 swimmers entered, comprising 45 teams from all corners of Victoria, the meet was very competitive, however the 11 swimmers who qualified and represented Kilmore rose to the challenge. They were Somaiya Harriden, Emilie Cardamone, Grace Tricarico, Tamara Bess (Club Captain), Emma Pendlebury, Mackai Harriden, Alexander Killender, Jack Tricarico, Lachlan Wright, Ethan Daws and Rod Welsh.

Ethan, Alexander, Rod, Lachlan, Jack and Somaiya all qualified for exciting finals appearances with Ethan taking 1 gold and Rod taking 3 gold medals. In the sweltering heat all of the swimmers performed exceptionally well and posted at least one personal best performance. Emilie being the shining light with a 4.81 PB in her 100m breaststroke.
